No Surprises Act
At New Jersey Hearing Health Center, we are committed to transparency and ensuring that you understand the cost of your care. In compliance with the No Surprises Act, effective January 1, 2022, we aim to protect our patients from unexpected medical bills and provide clear information about the cost of services.
Your Rights Under the No Surprises Act
The No Surprises Act is a federal law designed to prevent unexpected medical bills for patients who:
- Are uninsured.
- Are self-pay (paying out of pocket for services).
- Receive services from an out-of-network provider at an in-network facility.
Here’s how we ensure compliance with the law and your peace of mind:
Good Faith Estimate
If you are uninsured or self-pay, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected costs for audiology services before your appointment.
What is included in a Good Faith Estimate?
- A breakdown of the services you will receive.
- The estimated cost of each service or procedure.
- Any additional costs that may reasonably be expected.
The estimate will be provided:
- At least 3 business days before your scheduled service if booked in advance.
- Upon request if you are considering services but have not yet scheduled an appointment.
What to Do If You Receive a Surprise Bill
A “surprise bill” is an unexpected bill for services you thought were covered by your insurance or for out-of-network care. If you feel you have been billed unfairly, you have the right to:
-
Dispute the Bill
- Contact us directly to review your bill and resolve any discrepancies.
- File a formal dispute through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
-
Keep All Documentation
- Save your Good Faith Estimate and any communication about the cost of care.
Our Commitment to You
At New Jersey Hearing Health Center, we strive to make your experience as seamless and stress-free as possible. We are here to answer your questions about costs, billing, and insurance, and to provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions about your hearing health.
